Prévention Verdun’s priority is ensuring Verdun citizens feel secure. This is essential for a good quality of life. Our activities and services have similar goals: increase the level of sense of security of Verdun citizens; encourage Verdun citizens to take responsibility for their environment; maintain an active and complementary role in urban security, including fire prevention, civil protection and first aid in case of a major disaster.
Crime Montréal encourages citizens to fight against crime by calling anonymously to report any criminal act. A reward up to $2,000 is given anonymously to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of a suspect. Info-Crime Montréal is a program in partnership with the City of Montréal, which requires the participation of the general public, the media and the police.
The local police stations (PDQ) offer a number of local services that can vary from one neighbourhood to the next, in order to properly respond to local issues and specific needs of citizens. Services for everyone: response to calls that are urgent and less urgent; residential or business visits to give safety and prevention advice; free loan of an engraver to identify your valuable items; handling and follow-up of traffic and road safety complaints; handling and follow-up of criminal complaints; local crowd control at events in the neighbourhood.
